We are pleased to announce that James K. Nelson has joined SecureKernel as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

About James K. Nelson

James K. Nelson is an engineer with experience at Close.com and several other companies, and has previously served as CTO at a Japanese startup. He has a broad track record spanning multiple domains.

Open Source Contributions

James K. Nelson is a core contributor to MDX (Markdown + JSX)1 — the widely adopted format that combines the lightweight markup language Markdown with JSX, powering documentation and content workflows for developers around the world.

Security Research

James K. Nelson is also one of the early discoverers and public disclosers of CSS injection attack techniques targeting web applications234. CSS injection exploits CSS behavior to exfiltrate sensitive information from web pages, and his work — which highlighted reproducibility in modern JavaScript environments including React.js — drew significant attention in the security community. His attacker-side perspective on web vulnerabilities directly informs SecureKernel’s product design.

Technical Education

James is the founder of Frontend Armory5, an interactive learning platform for React and frontend technologies, through which he has contributed to developer education and community growth.
